Building BobSmithPhotography.net has stopped expanding because I've been overwhelmed with spam on the comment forums. So, if you're here and have questions about web design come and visit Forums, Blogs, Wikis dot com. It has articles that I've written, some of which are also here, and a web design forum as well so you can ask any questions you may have. There is still a lot of good stuff here though, so poke around the links and take a look.

Meeting again with Bob

Now that we have the basic design of Bob's site where we want it, it's time to sit down and talk to Bob again.  We need to know what functions Bob wants on his web site and to get his approval on the design.

Bob loves the design, so no problems there.

Here's what Bob tells us that he wants on his site:

  • Galleries - Two galleries, weddings and portraits.  Plus, it should be easy to update.
  • Contact Form - Yes, Bob's email and phone will be on the site, but he wants a contact form as well.
  • Pricing Page - A place to display pricing so that people just looking for prices can find them without having to call.
  • Random image on the front page.  Each view of the front page should display a random image from a set that is uploaded.
  • Random quote - Bob has many letters and emails from happy clients.  He wants to use some of their quotes on his site and feels that having them randomly displayed underneath the navigation links would be the best way to go about that.

Now, if you're following along and designing a site of your own, you really should put some thought in to what you want on your site.  All of the functions that Bob wants on his site are fairly common on photographers' sites.  At the end of this tutorial you will have the instruction on how to implement them in your own site.
