SandboxIn computer terms, a sandbox is a place where you can try out new ideas without it affecting your site. Most wiki systems have a sandbox, PayPal has a sandbox allowing you to test your payment methods before using it on a real account, and some forums will let you sandbox postings. There is one type that deserves special mention. That is the Google sandbox. It is the theory that new domains have a waiting period before they wind up in the Google SERPS. Personally, I've never experienced this effect. This site was in the Google index within days of being published and I started receiving search engine traffic within a few hours. That's not to say the Google sandbox doesn't exist; I just haven't experienced it. |
